As the State’s work health and safety regulator, SafeWork NSW plays a critical role in safeguarding the wellbeing of workers across New South Wales. Guided by the “Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW)”, SafeWork NSW carries out key regulatory functions to ensure every workplace remains safe and compliant.
From 1 July 2025, SafeWork NSW now operates as an independent regulator which is the most significant transformation in its history. This reform strengthens its independence and accountability, empowering SafeWork NSW to deliver improved WHS outcomes for all workplaces across the state.
