The Developing Foundation Inc. was founded in 1978 as a charity offering brain injury support. The organisation has grown into a Charitable Foundation with a vision to help parents better understand and nurture their child’s development. This includes the development of an app that provides parents with the tools and insights needed to be active participants in their child’s growth. The foundation is deeply committed to helping families every step of the way, empowering them to foster a loving and supportive environment for their children. They also hope to further the knowledge in the medical and therapeutic community about brain development and function with the objective of improving the rehabilitation of people affected by developmental delay and brain injury. The challenge
As the Foundation grew, the need for efficient and scalable training became increasingly clear. Initially, all training, whether for fundraising members or thrift shop volunteers, was conducted face-to-face. This manual process caused significant delays around families being able to commence fundraising for therapies, aids and equipment. It also impacted how quickly volunteers started their roles.
Before we had access to the platform, all training was done face to face. This caused a lot of delays in families getting started with fundraising and volunteers commencing in stores.

With over 200 staff and volunteers to manage, relying on in-person inductions slowed down the Foundation’s ability to expand services and generate critical funds.
The solution
Nearly 20 years ago, The Developing Foundation partnered with Rapid Global to implement an online induction and training platform. Being able to automate the training process was one of the key enablers in the Foundation’s growth, supporting its expansion from a single thrift store to seven physical locations across two states, as well as the successful launch of an online store. This ability to scale operations while maintaining consistent training standards has been critical to the organisation’s sustainability.
It also delivered significant efficiency gains. Families and volunteers could get started much faster, as the delays caused by face-to-face training were eliminated. This meant families could begin fundraising efforts sooner, and volunteers could commence their roles in stores without unnecessary waiting periods.
Staff and volunteers have also found the system easy to use. The intuitive platform has allowed users of all backgrounds to navigate their training without difficulty, ensuring engagement and compliance across the board.
Finally, the system provided scalability. The Developing Foundation has been able to confidently onboard large groups of volunteers, delivering consistent training at scale without overwhelming internal resources.
